Council Corner: March 2024

I love March as it gives me hope that new beginnings are always beautiful.
— Anamika Mishra

Early in February, Council met to discuss final updates to St. Mark‟s Constitution. We made a few minor edits to the document presented by our Constitution committee and it has since been sent to our Synodical committee for review. We then met a second time for our monthly business meeting.

COMING SOON: In order to add to the safety of people who use the building at night we’ll be getting new LED outdoor lighting in the near future.

We were surprised when a final gift from Mary Smith’s estate arrived. In keeping with our practice of tithing this gift and because of Mary’s love of education, Council has decided to donate $250 to the Baldwinsville Community Scholarship Foundation. Their mission is to provide scholarships to graduating students who attend Baldwinsville Central School District that will assist them in their pursuit of further education; be it collegiate, trade or vocational programs.

Because we often feature images of members in various publications and media, we’ve realized that there is a general need to be sure we have permission from you to include your image. We’re asking, if you DO NOT want us to use your image in St. Mark’s publications as well as those shared with media, please fill out an “opt-out” form and return them to the office or Pr. Chuck. Forms can be found near the bulletin board. If we do not have a form for you on file, we’ll assume you give permission for you and your family to be photographed.

March of 2023 was a new beginning of sorts for St. Mark’s as we called Pr. Chuck to begin his ministry with us. New beginnings come with many emotions…excitement, fear, apprehension, happiness. It’s been a time when things have stayed the same and a time when we’ve experienced some change. It’s been a time when our partnership has settled into a rhythm…and we are grateful. What new beginning does God have in mind for us in March of 2024? Let’s open our hearts and minds to what that might look like.
